Science Background and Messaging
Ocean Acidification
At Monterey Bay Aquarium, I spearheaded efforts to launch a one-hour high school program on Ocean Acidification. This required taking a complicated topic and condensing it to create an engaging experience for students.
A core message - “In terms of pH, small changes mean more than you might think.” The full program write-up is linked below.
Forces and Motion
I was hired by Evan Moor to create science content on forces and motion for third graders. This work requires strong science, excellent writing skills, and an understanding of both teachers and students. One of the pieces I wrote on magnets is linked below.
Onboard Acoustic Recordings from Diving Northern Elephant Seals
Pictured to the right are Dr. Jenifer Zeligs and Beaver, a beloved sea lion, at Long Marine Laboratory. Beaver tested my equipment prior to it being deployed on an elephant seal.
Domoic Acid and Water Quality
During my tenure at the University of California at Santa Cruz, I worked in Dr. Mary Silver’s laboratory studying domoic acid and in the water quality laboratory at Long Marine Laboratory
Analytical Chemistry
As an analytical chemist at Burroughs Wellcome in Research Triangle Park in Raleigh, North Carolina and at Syntex in Palo Alto, California, I was responsible for testing pharmaceuticals and carefully documenting my work.
